How do I apply for a stock IPO in the USA?

I want to apply for a company going public on NASDAQ. How can I apply for the IPO? Is it possible to apply through my stockbroker or do I have to contact the underwriters directly?

   The stock starts trading.

   The underwritters and very nicely ask them for few shares.
